Which one is the right choice for your situation or particular interior painting project – cheap paint vs expensive paint?

Cheap Paint vs Expensive Paint

At your local paint store, there is a sea of choices to make.  Ask a paint professional that works in the store to help you out.  A few choices to consider when deciding on cheap paint vs expensive paint are:

  •  your budget;
  •  how much paint will be needed;
  •  quality of paint;
  •  the finish you desire

Area of Home Might Determine Quality of Paint

Let’s talk about which area of your home you plan on painting.  This is important when deciding what you want to spend, either on cheap paint vs expensive paint:

  • Ceilings:  In most cases, I like to select a low to mid-grade flat paint.  No sense breaking the bank.  You don’t tend to need to wash down your ceilings, so you can go less expensive here.
  • Walls & Trim Work:  I tend to like to recommend the higher the quality the better.  The better quality paints tend to have a more consistent even-look and are more durable for washings.
  • Closets, Basements & Garages:  I tend to recommend a more cost-effective material.
  • Putting House on Market:  I tend to recommend a low-to-mid-range paint that makes your project more affordable because you want to get back your return-on-investment.

Don’t forget, if you need an estimate on getting your home painted, give me a call. My team and I have been serving Evanston, Wilmette, Kenilworth, Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, Lake Forest, Glenview, Northbrook, and all of the Chicago area for 30+ years.
