Mirrors: A Simple But Effective Interior Design Idea
Mirrors Set Ambiance to Entry
When you paint the interior of your entry foyer, mirrors can be your friend to help make the room have a significantly different feel. Your mother always told you, “You only have one chance to make a good first impression.” Well, it’s true. Your home is no different. You need to get it right. Sometimes we spend so much time worrying about the kitchen or the powder room but overlook the entryway as the area to showcase. There are various ways to update your entry or foyer, and I’ve had many blog posts about this already. But let’s look at just one aspect today, adding in mirrors.
Adding in mirrors is an inexpensive way to brighten up that first area when family, friends, or business associates come over. Not only are mirrors purely functional with respect to primping up our hair or checking our teeth before we go out the door, but they add character to that area as well.
Lighting in the Foyer
LIGHTING: If you happen to be lucky and have natural light flowing through the foyer, then try to position the mirror where it can grab the natural lighting and bounce it off another wall as well. This will add more natural warmth to the entryway and lighten up a dark area. If you aren’t so lucky to have Mrs. Sunshine naturally come into the area, then position possibly the chandelier or table lamp where that light can bounce off of the mirror.
Proper Sizing
SCALE: Mirrors give the appearance of a larger area than you have. The one thing you need to do is keep the mirror the proper size to the entry foyer area. You don’t want a huge mirror that overpowers the wall or such a small one that you’d be better off not even hanging it up at all.
Correct Position
POSITION: You can either have a mirror hung right on the wall when you walk into your home. If you are lucky to have a larger foyer entry area, then consider purchasing a beautiful chest or table. Behind the table can be the mirror we’ve been talking discussing. You can then utilize a table lamp as mentioned before to play off of that mirror.
FINISHING TOUCHES: Brenda and I want to help you make your home a place you want to come to relax and unwind. When you are hanging mirrors in the entry foyer area or changing up the lighting, you should probably paint the interior walls and ceiling at the same time. Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore are excellent interior painting options. We’d love to help you make your home exciting again. Upgrade Your Home. Upgrade Your Life.
We know that the entryway is, of course, functional, but is the prelude to the rest of your home. Why not make a breathtaking first impression by considering adding in an inexpensive mirror today. I think you will be surprised how much it will add to your home. When coupling mirrors with tables, lamps, natural lighting, and a fresh coat of paint to the wall, it can make everything tie together like a bow on a package. Whether you are on a limited budget or not, hanging mirrors in the entry foyer area can give you outstanding results.
