Kitchen cabinets with soft close drawers do provide a huge advantage.
Kitchen cabinets, in most homes, are not updated. That’s the dirty little secret. You think you have the only outdated kitchen around, but most are outdated too. Do you realize that most homeowners do not have updated kitchens? If you don’t either, don’t worry, you’re not alone. But you have no idea what you are missing!
When you finally decide to make the investment of your time and hassle to have your kitchen remodeled, in my mind, there are a few commodities that are the trends right now that can make your life seem so much nicer. Let’s go over a few:
- Granite or quartz countertops
- New kitchen tiled floors or wood flooring
- New kitchen cabinets with soft-close drawers
- Tiled backsplash
- New lighting
Loud Cabinets No More!
Now I could write a post about every single one, but let’s just focus today on the benefits of soft-closed drawers. If you haven’t updated your kitchen in the last ten years or so, you probably have the typical cabinets that loudly close. In fact, almost seem like they slam shut. When we remodeled our kitchen last year, we installed the soft-closed kitchen cabinets. Wow, what a difference. We are a family of all boys, and with boys, you have all their friends and girlfriends over as well. We always have a kitchen full of people every day. The kitchen doors get a beating. So when we installed the soft-closed drawers, I couldn’t believe how much nicer they are compared to the old ones. Let’s look at the video below, one is the old cabinets, and the second is the soft-closed drawers. You decide:
How Does It Work?
So how does it work? With the help of gravity, the drawer or sliding mechanism reaches a particular point and gravity take over and closes the drawer slowly. The drawer closes slowly due to a slight tilt of the slider. The component or hinge keeps the drawers from slamming shut, actually slowing it down a bit.
Quiet Kitchen Cabinets
What are the benefits of soft-closed cabinets? Everyone knows the top benefit, it closes quietly, almost without any sound at all. I wish I had these when we had little babies. That would have meant more sleepful nights without the cabinets being accidentally closed to loudly and possibly having the dogs start to bark due to the loud sound. With the soft-closed cabinets, the little ones could have kept on sleeping. Ha!
Not only the quietness of the drawers, but there is less stress on the hinges and doors themselves. The less stress will give you longevity with your new cabinets. I have to admit, on occasion, some of our kitchen doors have been slammed a bit too hard in some heated arguments to “make a point” – not any longer! With a houseful of all men, this happens quite a bit. The new doors are a lifesaver for the cabinets.
Selling Feature When Selling Home
In closing, the new soft-closed kitchen doors & sliding drawers are attractive, adding comfort to the kitchen. This will be a feature you will enjoy for many years to come. It is also a selling feature if you have to sell your home. You’d be surprised how many of your neighbors do not have updated kitchens.
So, my feeling is, if you are going to go to the trouble of remodeling the kitchen, add that little extra feature that will make a huge difference to everyone. Make your house stand out from all the others! Remember, Mark and I always feel that when you Upgrade Your Home, you Upgrade Your Life™.
