Paint Peeling – Reason #1
Why is the paint peeling on the siding of the exterior of my home? I generally find that there are two main reasons.
- The first one is a poorly prepared surface.
- And the second one is excessive moisture.
We find that bad contractors don’t take care of the surface the way they should. This could be a key factor for the paint peeling. So let’s start with cleaning it, making sure it’s dry. Scraping any loose or flaking paint that is adjacent to the surface. Priming it. Caulking it. Making sure it is water tight. And then going ahead and top coating it with a high-quality latex paint.
Peeling Paint on Siding – Reason #2
The second peeling problem is excessive moisture. It can get back to where wood is touching concrete or a window sill up against brick. There again, let’s make sure it’s clean, it’s dry, all loose and flaking paint is taken off of it, and the siding is properly primed and caulked. This will give you a good tight surface and it should last you a long long time.
