Preparing for Bathroom Remodel – What Extent?

When finally deciding on going ahead with a bathroom remodeling project, most homeowners only think of the final results, a beautiful new bathroom. There are a few “hiccups” along the way that you need to expect.  Let’s talk about the bumps along the way and how you can start preparing for a bathroom remodel project in your home.

Now, one of the first things to think about is how many additional bathrooms you can use while the current bathroom is being remodeled.  Why?  Because you need to assess the following and how you can survive the bathroom remodeling project:

  • How many additional toilets can you use?
  • Just how many additional showers or bathtubs can you use?
  • How many additional bathrooms can you use?

Let’s break this apart.  If your current bathroom is being remodeled, you will need to determine the number of people in your home needing to use the toilets, showers, and bathrooms, in general, every day while the project is being worked on.  If you have only one additional bathroom or toilet, this can be an issue when everyone is trying to get ready in the morning for work or school.  And if you have no other choice, then you might want to strategize and have some family members take showers in the evening time, to break apart the stress of everyone utilizing the only available bathroom.

If you only have one additional bathroom to use, you just have to embrace the situation you are on.  Have fun with it.  This is part of the process, and the end result is worth it.  You will have a bathroom you have been dreaming of and features that will help give you a good return-on-investment.

Lotz of Logic

One final item to remember that will happen is you should expect dust and noise in your home.  This is part of the “embracing” the remodeling project.  We can put up a zip wall, but you will still have to expect dust going to other parts of your home.  Also, while the project is going on, the noise on some days will be loud due to the saws and hammers needing to be used.  Why not plan a day out of the house when those days are scheduled.  It keeps your stress down, and when you return, you will be excited to see the progress we have made while you are out enjoying the day.
