What is the Best Paint Roller to Use

So you are wondering what is the best paint roller to use. There are so many out there it can be hard to know what will work best for your project. Well, whizz rollers are being used more and more frequently by professional painters in places where brushes are commonly put to use due to their being much more efficient. There are so many places you can use them and there are so many different materials they are available in. They really are a fantastic little tool.

Where to Use a Whizz Roller

Whizz rollers or otherwise known as hot dog rollers used to only be used for those hard to reach areas such as behind toilets or radiator covers in older homes. Now, however, they are used for so many other things and frequently take the place of a brush. One example of this is when you need to cut in around the ceiling, but don’t have a ladder or would rather not climb up on one. All you need to do is place your whizz roller on a paint pole and do your cutting in that way, which is a great time saver.

Another thing the whizz roller is excellent for painting is doors and door frames. The whole thing can be done with this little roller except for when you haven’t taken the hinges or handles off. In that case, you will need a brush to cut in around that.

Different Sizes and Materials for Whizz Rollers

There are a couple of different handles you can get for these rollers. The Wooster handle is very nice, and the cage rolls very well. When using this one, lubricate it with a little silicone spray after cleaning it. The other kind just has a wire or metal arm, and the bearings that make it spin are in the paint roller cover.

There are several different naps you can get as well. The nap is the thickness of the roller cover material. The width can be anywhere from ⅛ in. to 1 ¼ in. Then there are different materials for different projects as well. You can get foam covers, which are great for when you are working with oils or varnishes, and you can get velour or mohair covers, which are suitable for fine finishes. There is also a whizz roller cover for your home’s exterior. Wooster Super Fabs work marvelously on the exterior of your home. The product you choose really depends on what application you want.
